Gokul Provisions

Vasanth Vihar Colony is a nice place to have a shop like ours. Over at 40-52/A in the H.B Colony area of Moula Ali, things move at a steady pace. I have been behind this counter for a while now and I have seen the neighborhood in Hyderabad change quite a bit, though the store stays mostly the same. We carry the basic provisions like rice, different types of lentils, and cooking oils. People usually come in with a list written on a scrap of paper. I spend a lot of time weighing out items and putting them into bags. It is a lot of standing around, but the neighbors are friendly so there is always someone to chat with. The afternoons can get really hot, so we usually sit under the old ceiling fan and wait for the evening rush when people get back from work. We try to keep the shelves tidy but with all the different spice packets and snacks, it usually ends up looking a bit cluttered by midday. It doesn't really matter as long as people find what they need for their kitchens. Sometimes we run out of something popular and I have to explain why the truck hasn't arrived yet. It is just a normal neighborhood shop where we do our best to keep things running without too much fuss.
