Global Impex

We’ve been here at Plot 391/B in Subash Nagar for a while now. It’s right next to the Marizid, so we hear the calls for prayer every day which is kind of nice and keeps us grounded. Global Impex sounds like a big name but we are just a handful of people working in the Ida Jeddimetla area. Mostly we deal with importing and exporting different things. It’s a lot of paperwork and boxes moving in and out. The roads here get pretty muddy when it rains, making it tough for the trucks to come in and out. We spend most of our mornings just checking the stock and seeing what needs to go out. It isn't always exciting work. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just sit around and talk until it comes back. My uncle started this place because he knew people in other countries who needed stuff from here. We try to keep things simple. We don’t have a big fancy office or anything, just some desks and a lot of storage space. People stop by sometimes just to say hello because everyone around here knows each other. We’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit over the years. More shops have opened up and the traffic is definitely worse than it used to be. But we like it here in this corner of the industrial area. It feels like home even though it's a place of work. We just keep our heads down and get the job done every single day.
