Gallerie India is tucked away in Ayodhyanagar, which is part of the Mehdipatnam area in Hyderabad. It’s a bit more relaxed here than in the main commercial hubs, and we like that. We’ve been at this address for some years now. The shop isn't very large, but we try to keep it organized even though things tend to pile up when we get busy. We mostly deal with local folks who know where we are, though occasionally someone new wanders in because they saw our sign. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who handle the day-to-day tasks. Most mornings start with opening the shutters and sweeping the front bit of the street. It can get quite dusty in Hyderabad, so cleaning is a never-ending job for us. We spend our time sorting through our stock or talking to people who stop by to ask questions. There isn't any fancy sales talk here; we just show people what we have and tell them the price. In the afternoons, when it gets quiet, we usually sit in the back and have some chai. It’s a humble place, and we aren't trying to be anything we aren't. We just want to keep the doors open and provide whatever it is our neighbors are looking for. It is a simple life running a small business in this part of the city, and we are happy with it.
