Durga Bhavani Stores

You can find Durga Bhavani Stores over at 253, Moula Ali Road. We’re right in the middle of Kasturibai Nagar in the Uppal area. It’s a loud part of town because of all the traffic on Moula Ali Road, but we’re used to it by now. The shop is packed from floor to ceiling with all sorts of household things. We have big bags of rice sitting near the entrance and smaller jars of spices on the shelves behind the counter. My family helps out a lot, so you’ll usually see one of us sitting there near the cash box. We don’t really use fancy computers for everything; mostly just a notebook and a calculator. People from the nearby houses in Kasturibai Nagar come in every morning for their daily milk or some bread. Sometimes we run out of the popular stuff and have to wait for the next delivery truck to show up. The storefront isn't very big, so things get a bit cramped when more than three people are inside at once. We spend time sweeping the dust that blows in from the road and rearranging the biscuit packets. It’s just a simple neighborhood store. We know most of the people who walk through the door by their first names. We stay open late most nights because there’s always someone who forgot to buy salt or matches for their dinner. It's just a regular life here in Uppal and we like being part of it.
