Bhagyalakshmi Steels & Engineering Works

Our shop, Bhagyalakshmi Steels & Engineering Works, is tucked away in Sripuram Colony at Sai Pranitha Reddy Nilayam. It is a bit of an unusual place for a steel business because it is mostly a residential area, but we have made it our home. My brother and I started this with just a few basic tools and a lot of determination. Now the space is pretty much filled with steel bars, pipes, and all kinds of metal offcuts. You have to be careful how you walk through here or you might trip over a beam. Because we are in a colony, we try to keep the loudest grinding for the middle of the day so we do not bother the neighbors too much. People from around the block often drop by when they have a broken gate or need a small frame welded. We do not mind the small jobs at all. It is a family-run thing and we do not have a big staff or a corporate way of doing things. Sometimes I forget to write down every single sale in the ledger right away, but we manage to keep things straight. The afternoon sun hits the front of the shop pretty hard, so we usually have a big fan blowing the dust around. It is just a plain workshop where we work with our hands and try to do right by the people who come to us.
