Basavatakaram Indo American Cancer Hospital

Basavatakaram Indo American Cancer Hospital sits on Road No 14 in the Banjara Hills area. Being in this part of town means there is always a lot of traffic outside, especially during the rush hour. The building itself is quite large and it takes a while to learn where all the different departments are located. We have people coming from all sorts of places, some very far away, just to visit the doctors here. The waiting rooms stay pretty full most of the day, so there is a lot of sitting around and waiting for names to be called out. Our staff stays busy moving from floor to floor. The elevators are almost always in use, so some of us just take the stairs to save time. It’s a serious kind of place because of the work done here, but you still hear the occasional laugh from the breakroom or the corridors. We have a lot of benches outside where family members sit when they need some fresh air. The registration desk is the first thing you see, and there’s usually a line there. We don't have much time for anything extra; we just get to work and handle the charts as they come in. It’s a lot of routine, checking vitals, updating records, and talking to folks about their schedules. The days go by fast here because there is always something that needs to be done right away. It's a lot of work.
