Kirana Store

The Kirana Store is located at 8-2-684/7/F in Banjara Hills, specifically in the Kalyan Wadi area near Dharavi Main. It is a small shop packed with all sorts of daily items. We have stacks of rice bags, different kinds of dals, and rows of soaps and detergents on the shelves. The space is quite narrow, so we have to be careful when moving things around so nothing falls over. We open the shutters early in the morning to start serving the people who live nearby. It is a very busy neighborhood, and there is always a lot of movement in the lane. We don't have any fancy computers or billing systems. We just weigh the items on the scale and write down the amounts in a notebook. The shop gets a bit dusty because of the main road nearby, so we are always wiping the jars and the counter. We know almost everyone who comes in to buy their daily milk or some snacks. It is a local place where people often stop to chat for a minute while they wait for their change. We don't do any marketing or special offers. We just sell what people need for their kitchens every day. Sometimes the deliveries arrive and we have to pile the boxes on the sidewalk until we can find space inside. It is a lot of lifting and carrying, but that is just part of the job here at the store.
