Balji Kirana Stores

You can find Balji Kirana Stores at Plot No. 162 in the Sai Nagar area, part of the Kuttally Housing Board Allowned Colony. It’s a typical neighborhood shop where we sell all the daily essentials. My day starts very early, usually before the sun is up, to take delivery of milk and bread. The shelves are packed with everything from pulses and rice to soap and snacks. It’s a small space, so things can get a bit cluttered, but I know exactly where everything is kept. If someone asks for a specific brand of tea, I can usually grab it without looking. The colony is quite friendly, and I know most of the people who come in by their first names. We talk about the weather or the local news while I’m weighing out sugar or packing groceries. It’s not a supermarket; it’s just a local kirana store. Sometimes kids come in after school for sweets, and in the evenings, it’s mostly people picking up things they forgot for dinner. I spend a lot of time checking the stock and making sure nothing is running low. Sweeping the front and keeping the counter clean takes up the quiet moments. It’s a lot of standing on my feet all day, but I’ve gotten used to it over the years. This shop is my main focus, and I try to keep the staples available for everyone in Sai Nagar. Most of my regulars just tell me to add it to their monthly book.
