Balaji Premchand Kirana & General Store

Our shop, Balaji Premchand Kirana & General Store, is tucked away in the 4th Phase of Subash Nagar, right near the Sanath Nagar area. The address is Door No 7-1-304/15/A/1. It’s a residential neighborhood, so most of our customers are the people living in the apartments and houses just a few minutes away. We’ve been here long enough that we’ve seen the kids grow up and start coming in to buy things for their own homes. The store itself is filled with a bit of everything, from sacks of rice to plastic buckets and brooms hanging from the ceiling hooks. It can look a little cluttered if you aren't used to it, but we know exactly where every item is kept. We start our day early to catch the people heading out for their morning errands. It’s a lot of work lifting the heavy bags and keeping the accounts straight in our books, but it keeps us busy. We don't use any computers here, just pen and paper like we always have. The fan wobbles a bit on high speed, but it does the job. People usually stop to talk for a minute about the neighborhood news while we bag their groceries. It feels like a small village inside the big city of Hyderabad. We just keep doing what we do, stocking the essentials and keeping the doors open for anyone who stops by.
