Down at Plot Number 121 on Sainathapuram Main Road, you will find Balaji Anopchand Dry Fruits Kirana & General Stores. We are right in the middle of the A S Rao Nagar area in Hyderabad. It is a big name for a shop, but we do carry a lot of different things. Mostly, people know us for the dry fruits like almonds and cashews we keep in the glass jars. We also have all the regular kirana items for the kitchen. The main road is always loud with traffic, so there is never a dull moment. I started this place because I wanted to work for myself. It takes a lot of work to keep track of all the different pulses and spices. Sometimes the dust from the road comes in, so we are always cleaning the counters. We get all sorts of customers, some who want just a little bit of something and others who buy for the whole month. I usually sit near the entrance so I can see everyone coming. It is a good neighborhood, and we have made many friends over the years. We stay open pretty late because people in Hyderabad like to shop after work. It gets hot in the afternoons, but the shop stays relatively cool inside. We just try to keep everything in stock so nobody leaves empty-handed. It is an honest job and we have been at it for years.
