B M Birla Science Musuem

You’ll find the B M Birla Science Musuem over at House Number 3-4-7/12 in Lingampally, which is part of the Kacheguda area in Hyderabad. It’s been sitting there for quite a while now. It isn't like those massive, modern buildings you see in the tech parks. It’s got a more traditional feel to it. Every morning we open the doors and start checking on all the displays and equipment. Science can be a bit complicated, so having these physical things for people to look at helps a lot. We get a lot of school groups coming through, and you can imagine the noise they make when they’re excited. The streets around Lingampally are usually busy, so the museum is a bit of a break from all that outside noise. We spend a good chunk of our time fixing things or making sure everything is in its right place. Hyderabad has its own heat, so keeping the place comfortable for visitors is a constant job. We aren't trying to be a world-class tourist trap. It’s just a place for learning and looking at interesting stuff. The staff here are mostly locals who have been around for years. We know where every creak in the floor is. It’s a solid place with a lot of history in these walls, even if the paint is peeling a bit here and there. We just keep things running as best as we can every day.
