Assam Tea

You’ll find us at 3-4-28/1 on Kachiguda Station Road. If you know that area, you know it never really stays quiet. There are always people rushing to catch a train or commuters walking past our front door. We’ve been running Assam Tea from this location for quite a while now. The shop is narrow and the shelves go all the way up to the ceiling. We keep all the different grades of tea in big jars and sacks. It’s a very old-school way of doing things, but it’s what we know. We don’t have a website with fancy photos or a big team of people in an office. It’s usually just one or two of us behind the counter, weighing out tea for whoever walks in. The floor is made of old stone and the light isn't the brightest, but it has a good feeling to it. We get a lot of noise from the station, the whistles of the trains and the announcements over the speakers. It’s become like background music to us. We don’t use any marketing tricks to get people in. Most of our customers are folks who have been coming to us for years. We just talk about the weather and the tea. It’s a very simple existence. We show up early, sweep the front, and start the day. There’s no corporate ladder here, just tea leaves and a lot of familiar faces passing by.
