Out here at Sy.No.635-637 in Raghavendra Nagar, we have a pretty large space because road equipment isn't exactly small. We are right near the Metro Super Market in Kukatpally, so it’s a landmark most people in this part of Hyderabad know. The yard is usually full of heavy steel frames, rollers, and big components waiting to be assembled into road-making machines. It gets quite hot under the sun, and the sound of welding and metal clanging is the background music to our day. At Ashok Road Equipment, we don’t really do the whole corporate office thing. Our office is just a small cabin on the edge of the assembly area where we keep the blueprints and the invoices. We spend most of our time out in the dust and the heat, making sure the equipment is built sturdy enough to handle actual road work. Kukatpally is a busy area, and the traffic outside our gates never seems to stop, but inside, we just focus on the task at hand. Some of our workers have been with us since the beginning, and they know these machines inside and out. It’s hard work, often leaving us tired and covered in grime by the end of the shift, but there’s a sense of accomplishment in seeing a massive piece of equipment finally being loaded onto a trailer. We just take it one machine at a time, making sure everything is bolted down right.
