Apsara Men

Apsara Men is found at 14-5-331/C in Baidarwadi, which is part of the Begum Bazar neighborhood. We are very close to the Begum Bazaar Nursing Home, so many people use that as a landmark to find us. The area is quite cramped with old buildings and narrow lanes, and our shop fits right into that scene. It is a small space with just enough room for the barber chairs and a small area for people to sit while they wait their turn. We have got a ceiling fan that wobbles a bit, but it provides a good breeze on hot days. The walls are painted a light blue that has faded over the years. We have a small radio that we keep tuned to the local stations for some background noise while we work. Most of the men who come here have been coming for years, so we know their names and how they like things done. It is a very local atmosphere where people talk about the weather or the price of things in the market. We keep our scissors sharpened and our towels clean, tucked away in a small cupboard. The lighting isn't the brightest, but we have a big window at the front that lets in the daylight. It is just a humble place for a haircut and a shave. We don't have any fancy signs or big promises, just the same routine we have followed for a long time now.
