We sit in Block H, Door No 20, right here in Hyderabad. It’s a government building, so it’s exactly what you’d expect. High ceilings, old fans, and stacks of paper everywhere. We deal with all the stuff related to the forests in Andhra Pradesh. It’s a lot of maps and records of land. We aren't out in the woods every day; most of us spend our time right here at these wooden desks. The building is a bit old and has that specific smell of old paper and ink. People come in with applications or to ask about land boundaries. We try to get through the pile of work, but government stuff takes time. There’s a tea stall nearby where we all go when we need a break from the files. It’s not a high-tech place. We use computers, but the old paper ledgers are still around too. It’s a bit slow-paced sometimes, but it gets busy when new projects come up. The staff here has been around for years, so we all know how the system works. We just follow the rules and try to keep everything recorded properly. It’s a steady job in a quiet corner of Hyderabad. We just keep track of the trees and the land from our desks in Block H. It’s mostly just files and forms every single day.
