Our shop is tucked away in Shamsheergunj, right at 18 4 42/3/5. It’s an old part of the city, so the streets are narrow and always crowded with people and scooters. We’ve been operating out of this space for a long time. It’s the kind of place where you know the neighbors and the tea stall guy around the corner. Inside, we have shelves piled high and notebooks where we jot down what’s coming in and going out. It’s not a modern office with glass walls or anything like that. It’s just a solid place where we do our daily business. People stop by to ask about prices or to pick up an order they placed a few days ago. We deal with a lot of different items, and the inventory changes depending on the season and what people are asking for. Dealing with the traffic out front is probably the hardest part of the day. You have to get used to the noise and the constant honking. We usually have a fan going to keep the air moving, but it still gets warm in the afternoons. Sometimes we just sit on the bench outside and watch the world go by when things get a bit quiet. It’s a simple way to earn a living, and we’ve gotten used to the rhythm of this neighborhood. Every day feels a bit different even though we’re doing the same kind of work. The building is old, but it holds everything we need.
