Alladin General Stores

Alladin General Stores is situated on the busy Nampally Station Road in Hyderabad. We are very easy to spot because we are right near the Ek-Minar Masjid. Being so close to the station means we see a lot of new faces every day along with our regulars. People getting off the trains often stop by for a quick bottle of water or some biscuits before heading home. It’s a small shop but we pack a lot into it. There are hooks hanging from the ceiling with packets of chips and small toys for kids. It makes the place look a bit crowded but it uses the space well. I spend most of my day sitting on a high stool watching the crowds go by. My nephew helps me out during the busy hours in the evening. Sometimes we get orders mixed up when five people are talking at once but we always sort it out in the end. The heat in Hyderabad can be tough but the stone floor of the shop stays relatively cool. We don't have any air conditioning, just a ceiling fan that makes a bit of a clicking sound. We like being part of the life here on Station Road. It’s noisy and chaotic but it’s our home. We keep things simple and try to be helpful to whoever walks through the door. That's just how we do things here every single day for the community.
