A Shankar Kirana & General Stores

Our shop, A Shankar Kirana & General Stores, is located right on Ramalayam Street in the Sitaphalmandi area. We have been here for a good number of years now. Hyderabad is a busy city, but our little corner stays pretty much the same. We sell basic groceries, cleaning supplies, and some general items that people find useful. It's a small space, so things are tucked into every corner. Sometimes finding a specific bag of lentils takes a minute, but we know where everything is. The shop opens early in the morning because people need their milk and curd before the sun gets too hot. We don't do anything fancy like home delivery apps or anything like that. People just walk in, tell us what they need, and we weigh it out for them. It’s a very local way of doing things. Some of our customers have been coming to us since they were children. Now they bring their own kids. The street gets quite busy during festival times, especially with the temple nearby. We try to keep enough stock of coconut and oil during those days. It’s not a big supermarket with bright lights. It’s just a neighborhood kirana store where you can have a quick chat while your items are being packed. The floor gets a bit dusty from the street traffic, and the fans are old, but it works for us. We just focus on keeping the basic supplies ready for whoever walks through the door.
