About Suresh Stationery – Books & Knowledge in Hubli
The shop has been here in Dharwad for a while now, right near the temple. It isn't a very big space, just shop number three, but we keep it packed with all sorts of things people need. Most mornings start with cleaning the dust off the stacks of notebooks and checking if the pen refills are stocked up. We get a lot of students coming in because of the location, usually looking for a specific geometry box or just a cheap ballpoint pen that writes smooth. The bells from the temple next door ring pretty often, so you always know what time of day it is without looking at a watch. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded inside when a whole group of school kids rushes in at once after their classes. We try to keep things organized, though stuff tends to pile up on the counters. It's a simple setup with wooden shelves that have seen better days. Usually, it's just about making sure we have enough registers and chart papers when exam season rolls around. If someone needs something we don't have, we usually tell them to come back in a couple of days once the new stock arrives from the city. The rain here can be quite something, so we have to keep the shutters halfway down sometimes to keep the papers dry. It’s just a regular local place where people stop by on their way home. We've been sitting in this same spot for years, watching the street change while we just keep selling pencils and erasers.
