Our polyclinic is situated in North Ghosh Para, Bally. It’s right near the Nischinda police station, so it is easy to find if you know the area. Tapan Kumar Samanta is the person whose name is on the place. We have been here for a while, and the building shows its age a bit. It is a busy diagnostic center. Every morning, people start lining up even before we open the doors. We try to get the blood samples taken quickly so people can get to work. The lab in the back stays busy all day. We have a lot of paperwork to deal with because everything is still mostly done by hand here. It gets quite hot in the summer, and the fans just move the warm air around, but nobody complains much. We know the regulars who come in every month for their checkups. It’s a noisy street outside with horns honking all the time, but inside we just focus on the patients. We aren't a big chain or anything. It’s just a local polyclinic serving the Howrah area. The staff is mostly people from the same neighborhood. We share lunch in the small breakroom when there is a gap in the appointments. It’s not a shiny, perfect place, but it is where we work and help the local folks with their medical tests every single day.
