Spicery Retail Private Limited

Our little office is in Room H-1 on the ground floor of Block-H over on Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Sarani. It’s a long name for a street but we just call it our work home. Being on the ground floor is lucky because we don’t have to carry heavy spice bags up any stairs. The room is usually filled with the scent of cumin, turmeric, and chili powder. It’s so strong it stays in your hair. We have shelves that go all the way to the ceiling, packed with different containers and retail pouches. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze when more than three people are inside at once. Howrah is always humid, so we have to be really careful about how we store everything so it stays fresh. We spend most of our time counting packets or talking to the suppliers who come by with their vans. It’s not a polished showroom; it’s a working warehouse where we get our hands dirty. The light in the hallway is a bit dim and the floor is concrete, but it serves us well enough for what we do. We just keep track of the stock in a big old notebook and try to keep things moving. It’s simple retail work, nothing more and nothing less. We just focus on the daily tasks and make sure the orders go out to the shops on time.
