We are located at 493/B/3 on G T Road South in Shibpur. If you can find the Shibpur Police Station, we’re right across from it. It’s a loud area because of all the trucks and the constant traffic going through Howrah. The dust from the road gets everywhere, so we spend a lot of time dusting off the desks and the wooden crates. This isn't a place for suits or ties. We’re usually in our shirtsleeves, moving cargo and checking the manifests by hand. The building is older, but it’s solid enough for our needs. We’ve got a big space for the logistics side of things because some of the stuff we handle is quite large and heavy. It’s a lot of shouting back and forth to get things loaded onto the right vehicles. Sometimes the neighbors come by just to chat for a minute while they’re out on errands. We keep a big jug of water in the corner because it gets really stuffy in the afternoons when the sun is out. The work is constant. There’s always another shipment coming in or someone asking when their delivery will reach the destination. We don’t have a marketing team. It’s just us here, handling the cargo and making sure the paperwork is mostly in order. At the end of the day, we pull down the shutters and head home, usually tired but ready for the next day.
