Universal Computer Training Academy

Universal Computer Training Academy is tucked away in Munshidanga Purba Sardar Para. It started because there weren't many places nearby where kids or adults could just sit down and learn how to use a keyboard or open a spreadsheet. We have a few rooms with desks and some older monitors that still work fine. It gets a bit crowded in the evenings when the students finish their school classes. The power goes out sometimes, so we have to wait a bit or just talk about the theory until it comes back on. It’s not a big university or anything. We just teach what people need to know for jobs or schoolwork. I spend a lot of my time fixing the mouse cables or updating the software on the weekends. My cousin helps out with the beginner classes. We don't have a glossy brochure. People usually just hear about us from their neighbors or see the sign when they are walking through the lane. It’s a noisy neighborhood, especially during festivals when the music is loud. We try to keep the windows closed to hear the lessons better. Some of the chairs are a bit wobbly, but we make do with what we have. Learning computers is important these days, so we try to keep the doors open as much as we can for everyone in the area. It’s just us here, trying to help people get a handle on technology without making it too complicated or expensive for them to learn.
