Finding us can be a bit tricky if you aren't familiar with the colony, but once you’re here, you’ll hear the machines. We’ve got a setup that’s been running for quite some time. The floor is usually covered in bits of thread and fabric. It’s a noisy place, and the air always feels a bit heavy with the smell of the materials we use. We don't have many fancy chairs or decorations. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re too busy for that right now. Most of our day is spent making sure the production stays on schedule. We have workers who have been coming here every morning for a decade. They know their jobs inside out. We take our tea breaks together and talk about the neighborhood or what’s on the news. It’s simple work, but it’s what we know. The office part is just a small corner with a wooden desk where we keep the registers. We don’t really use a lot of fancy software; we still like our paper records. It’s how we’ve always done it here in Howrah. When the shift ends, we lock up and head out into the busy evening air.
