Caps Sreerampore

Up on the first floor of Gopi Nath Shah Super Mkt, you’ll find us at Shop No 53. Serampore is a busy place, and the market can get quite loud with everyone shouting and moving around. We deal with all sorts of headwear here at Caps Sreerampore. Most of our day is spent organizing the stacks so they don’t fall over on anyone. It’s a small space, so we have to use every inch of the walls. You have to walk up those stairs which can be a bit steep if you aren't used to them. We see a lot of the same faces every week, mostly locals who know where we are tucked away. It’s not like those big malls where everything is shiny and perfect. Here, the floor is a bit worn out and the lighting isn't the best, but it works for us. We spend a lot of time talking to the other shopkeepers about how business is going or what the weather is doing. Sometimes the rain leaks a little near the window when it gets heavy, so we have to move the boxes. It’s just a normal way to earn a living. We aren't trying to change the world, just making sure people have something to wear on their heads when they leave the market. It gets quiet in the evenings before we lock up the shutters and head home to get some rest.
