Pipe House

If you head down J. N. Mukherjee Road in Ghusuri, you’ll find us at 122/93. We call it Pipe House because that’s exactly what it is. We have stacks of pipes and fittings everywhere you look. The area can be quite dusty because of all the traffic and the industrial nature of Ghusuri, but we don’t mind it much anymore. It’s a lot of manual work here, moving things around and making sure we have what people are asking for. Most of our days are spent loading or unloading trucks that pull up right outside. It gets pretty hot in the summer, especially under the roof, so we try to get the heavy lifting done early. We don’t have a big office or anything, just a desk where we keep the ledger and handle the cash. People from the neighborhood and contractors stop by all the time. Some of them have been coming to us for years. We know most of our regulars by name. It’s a straightforward business. We sell pipes, we count the stock, and we go home at the end of the day. There’s always a bit of grease or dirt on our hands, but it’s honest work. The road outside is always busy, so there’s never a dull moment when you’re standing near the entrance watching the world go by while waiting for a delivery.
