Fern Flowers & Plant Boutique

Dobson Road is always a bit chaotic, especially being so close to the Howrah AC Market. It’s noisy outside most of the day with the rickshaws and people rushing around. Inside the shop at No. 20, things are a little different. It’s where we keep the flowers and the potted plants. Fern Flowers & Plant Boutique has been here for a while now. We spend a lot of time just keeping the plants alive, especially when the heat gets bad in the summer. There’s always water on the floor from the vases and a bit of dirt that we can never quite sweep all the way out. We get people coming in for all sorts of things, maybe a bunch of roses for a birthday or just a small succulent for their desk at work. The flowers come in early in the morning, usually while it’s still dark, and we have to trim them and get them into fresh water before the sun gets too high. Sometimes the deliveries are a mess and we have to scramble to get things ready. It isn't a glamorous job, your hands are always wet and you get thorns in your fingers now and then. But it's what we do here on Dobson Road. People come in and out, the bells on the door ring, and we just keep potting and wrapping things up in brown paper or whatever we have lying around that day.
