Bera Zari Works Fashion

We are based in Village-Mallagram, which is under the Amta post office. Bera Zari Works Fashion has been in this village for quite some time. Zari work is what we do. It is very detailed and takes a lot of patience. Most of the people working here are from around the village. We sit on the floor and work on the frames. It is quiet work for the most part. The village life is slow, which is good for this kind of embroidery. You can't rush zari or the thread breaks or the pattern gets crooked. We have been doing this in Amta for years. Our workshop is just a simple building. It stays cool in the summer because of the trees outside. We don't have a big marketing budget or a store in the city. We just do the work and then it gets sent out to whoever ordered it. Sometimes the rains make it hard to get the finished work out of the village because the roads get muddy. We just wait it out until things dry up. People know us here in Mallagram. We are just local folks making things with our hands. It is a traditional way of earning a living. We don't use big machines, just needles and thread and a lot of time. It’s a bit hard on the eyes, but we are used to it. We keep working until the light fades in the evening. It’s a simple, honest way to spend the day.
