You can find Gitanjali Furniture at number 363 on GT Road in Bally. We are right near the Kalyaneswari Temple, which is a big landmark for everyone around here. You can usually hear the temple bells from our doorway while we work. Being on GT Road means there’s a constant stream of trucks and cars passing by, so it’s never really quiet. Inside, the air is thick with the smell of cut wood and varnish. We have stacks of planks and half-finished chairs and tables everywhere. It’s a messy place, to be honest, but that’s how furniture making goes. We spend our days measuring, cutting, and hammering things together. Our hands are usually covered in sawdust or glue by the end of the shift. People coming from the temple sometimes wander in just to see what we’re building. We don't have a fancy showroom with bright lights or carpets. Most of our stuff is just lined up on the concrete floor ready for whoever bought it. It’s heavy work, moving wardrobes and beds around, but we’re used to the physical side of it. The fans just move the dust around, so we mostly leave the big front doors open to get some fresh air. It’s a local shop for local people, and we like it that way. We’ve been in Bally for a long time now, just making things that last for the neighbors.
