A. B. Paul & Co. is situated at P-261/1 on Benaras Road in the Belgachia area. It’s a busy stretch of road with a lot of trucks and rickshaws going by all the time. Our building is an old one, made of brick and mortar that’s seen a lot of monsoons. We handle various industrial goods and supplies. It’s a family business, really. My grandfather set this up, and the desk he used is still in the front office, though it wobbles a bit now. We don't have any flashy displays or sales teams. It’s just us answering the phone and writing out orders. The warehouse space is tight, and we have to stack things high to make everything fit. Sometimes the dust from Benaras Road gets everywhere, so we spend a lot of time dusting off the boxes. We aren't a corporate giant. We’re just local people who know a bit about the trade. Customers come in, we talk about what they need, and we see if we have it in the back. It’s a slow pace compared to the city center, but we like it that way. We take a long lunch break when the sun is at its peak. The stairs to the upper floor are narrow and creak when you walk on them. It’s just a normal place with people trying to earn a living. We’ve been here a long time and we plan to stay.
