Velankanni Matriculation Higher Secondary School

If you go down Rayappan Mudali Street in Krishnagiri, you will find our school. It’s an old part of town, and the street can be quite narrow with all the shops and houses nearby. The school itself is a sturdy building that has seen many batches of students come and go. We have the matriculation stream here, covering everything from the lower classes up to the higher secondary levels. The courtyard is where everything happens, from the morning prayers to the sports practice. Krishnagiri can be quite dry, so we have to keep an eye on the water supply for the students. The classrooms are filled with the usual wooden desks that have years of scratches on them. Our teachers are local people who have been teaching the same subjects for a long time. They know which students are hard workers and which ones need a little push. We don't have any big flashy signs or corporate logos. It’s just the name of the school on the gate. We deal with the usual school problems like broken chalk or a leaky roof when the monsoon hits hard. Students come from all over the district, some taking the bus for an hour just to get here. At the end of the day, when the final bell rings, the street outside gets completely blocked with kids heading home. It’s been like that for years, and we just keep going with the same rhythm every term.
