We are based out of Village Chak Gurjran, which is just off the Jalandhar Road. The post office is in Piplanwala, so that’s where our mail goes. Being a trader out here means you spend a lot of time on the phone and even more time checking the inventory in the warehouse. It’s a big open space filled with all sorts of goods. We don't produce anything ourselves; we just move things from where they are made to where they are needed. The Jalandhar Road is always busy with trucks, and we are one of the stops along the way. Sometimes the weather makes it hard to get things moved, especially when it rains heavy and the yard gets muddy. We have a small crew here. Usually, one person is at the desk and the others are out back with the forklift or checking the lists. It isn't a glamorous job. There’s a lot of counting and making sure the crates aren't damaged. We drink a lot of tea while we wait for the next delivery to arrive. The village is quiet, but our yard can get pretty loud when several trucks show up at once. We’ve been doing this for years, and we know the routes and the drivers pretty well. It’s just about keeping the flow of goods moving and making sure the records match the physical stock we have on the floor.
