Out here in Raghunahapura, things are a bit different than the city center. Interspice India is located at 43/3, near the Shivapura Post Office in Doddaballapura. It’s a bit of a drive to get out here, but it’s where we do all our processing. The air around the place usually smells like whatever we are working on that day. If it’s pepper or turmeric, you’ll definitely know as soon as you step inside. The building is functional. We have a lot of bags stacked up and machines for cleaning and sorting the spices. It’s a lot of manual work, honestly. People from the nearby villages come in to help with the sorting. It’s a local operation through and through. We deal with the farmers and the middle-men, trying to keep everything moving. The floors are concrete and the roof is high to keep things cool. We don't have a big corporate team, just a few of us in the office handling the logistics and a larger group on the floor. Sometimes the power goes out, which is common around Doddaballapura, and we just have to wait it out or use the generator. It’s not a glamorous life, but there is something satisfying about seeing the raw spices come in and then leaving in neat packages. We just try to keep things simple and honest in how we work every day.
