Vimal Gallery

Vimal Gallery is located at 13, Tarapukur Lane in Serampore. It is in the Hooghly district of West Bengal. The lane is quite narrow, so it can be a bit tricky if you are driving a big car down here. We have been here for a long time now. The building is old but it has a lot of character and history. We use the space to show different items, mostly things that look good in a home or office. It is not a massive gallery like you see in the big cities. It is more of a local spot where people come to browse and chat. We have piles of things stacked up, and sometimes it takes a minute to find exactly what a customer is asking for. The humidity here in Bengal can be tough, so we have to be careful about how we store everything. We usually have the radio playing some local music in the background while we work. It is a slow-paced kind of place. We talk to the people who walk in, often about the weather or the local news rather than just the business. It feels more like a community spot than a cold shop. My desk is near the front window so I can see who is coming down the lane. We do our own cleaning and dusting, which is a never-ending job with all the shelves. It is a honest way to spend the day.
