Mahua Art Gallery

You’ll find Mahua Art Gallery over at Circus Math on the Mankundu Station Road. We’re located in Chandannagar, which is in the Hoogly district of West Bengal, 712136. Being near the station road means there’s always something going on outside, with people coming and going from the trains all day. The gallery itself is a modest space where we keep all the art. It’s not one of those cold, white-walled galleries you see in big cities. It feels more like a local spot where people can just drop in and have a look around. We spend a lot of time dusting the frames and moving things around to make space for new pieces that arrive. Sometimes we just sit and talk about the different paintings we have in the room. The floor is old but we try to keep it clean. It’s a bit of a walk from the main part of town, but it’s a nice walk if the weather is okay. We don’t do big fancy openings with wine and all that stuff. It’s more about just having the art there for anyone who wants to see it. The lighting is okay, though we sometimes have to adjust the bulbs to get the right feel for the paintings. It’s a quiet life here in Hoogly. We just enjoy being surrounded by the colors and the quiet when the street outside finally settles down in the evening. People from the neighborhood sometimes stop by just to say hello.
