Shatabdi Rice & General Mills

Located at Shop No. 75-A in the New Grain Market, our place is right in the middle of all the chaos that comes with a busy trading hub. We are near the State Bank of India, which is a major landmark for anyone trying to navigate the rows of shops here. The grain market is a loud, hectic place where tractors and trucks are constantly jockeying for space in the narrow lanes. Our mill handles rice but we also deal with general milling tasks, so there is always something different happening on any given day. The floors are usually covered in a thin layer of grain and the air is thick with the sound of merchants shouting and engines idling. We don't have a quiet office; our workspace is right there among the sacks and the machinery. It is a very hands-on kind of business where you are always checking the moisture of the grain or making sure the bags are stitched up properly. Lunch is usually a quick meal taken while sitting on a pile of jute bags, and there is always a pot of tea going for anyone who stops by. We aren't trying to be the biggest or the fanciest mill in the market. We just focus on getting through the daily load and making sure the shop is ready for the next morning's arrivals. It is a gritty, busy life but it is what we know and what we do.
