Neelkanth Rice Mill

You can find Neelkanth Rice Mill out in Village Chhinta Wala. We are right near the petrol pump, which makes it easy for people to give directions. If you miss the pump, you’ve gone too far. We have been operating here for a while. The village is small, so we know most of the farmers who bring their harvest to us. We don't have any fancy signs, just the mill building and the storage sheds. It gets very hot in the summer, and the tin roof doesn't help much. We have a couple of big fans, but mostly we just sweat it out. The petrol pump next door is where we get our fuel and sometimes a cold drink. It’s a landmark for us. Working with rice is a messy business. The floors are always covered in a thin layer of dust. We try to keep it clean, but it's a losing battle during the busy months. We don't talk much about being the best or anything like that. We just do the work. If the rice is good, people come back. If it's not, they don't. It’s as simple as that. In the evenings, the village gets quiet, and we can hear the birds in the trees around the mill. We finish up, wash the dust off our faces, and head home. That’s a typical day for us at Neelkanth Rice Mill. It’s a quiet life but we like it.
