Jangra Sugar Cubes

You can find us over by the Railway Station in the Sai Colony area. We are in District Hisar. Being so close to the station means we hear the trains going by all day and night. You eventually stop noticing the noise after a few weeks of working here. Our main thing is sugar cubes. It is not a complicated business. We get the sugar, we make the cubes, and we pack them up into boxes. The air in the workspace usually smells a bit sweet which isn't too bad. We are just a small group of people working here. It is not some big factory with thousands of employees. Just a few of us making sure the machines are running right. Sometimes a machine breaks down and we have to spend the afternoon fixing it with whatever tools we have. My hands usually end up sticky by the time I go home. We don't have a fancy office for meetings. We just talk over tea in the break area. Sai Colony is a quiet enough place except for the trains. We’ve been here for a while and the locals know what we do. It is just steady work that keeps us busy. We don't do much advertising or anything. People who need sugar cubes usually find us through word of mouth or just seeing the sign near the station. It is a basic operation but it works for us.
