Foji Lemon House

Our little shop is on Kelnia Road, right near the Rania Chungi in Sirsa. It’s a spot where people stop when they are driving through or heading toward the Sirsa Ho area. We have been here for a good while, serving lemon drinks and staying out of the heat. The sun in Haryana can be pretty brutal, so we spend a lot of time making sure we have enough ice and fresh lemons. It isn't a big building, just a simple place where you can get a cold drink. We start the day by washing the glasses and cutting the fruit. There is always a pile of lemon peels in the bin by noon. We don't have a lot of fancy equipment, just the stuff we need to get the job done. The road outside is usually dusty and loud with trucks passing by. We have a few benches where people can sit for a minute before they get back on their way. We aren't trying to be a big cafe. We just do one thing and we try to do it consistently. The neighbors stop by to chat and we see the same faces every afternoon. When the evening rolls around and it gets a bit cooler, we start packing up the crates. It’s a modest way to make a living, but we like being part of the local scene here. We make sure the glass jars are all lined up before we lock the doors for the night.
