Uthhan Ajeevika Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited is located in Harila, specifically in the Chotaki and Khargdiha area of Bengabad. We operate out of house number 35A, which belongs to Suresh Mahto. This is a company run for and by women farmers. We started with just a few of us and it’s grown a bit since then. The house is always busy. There are often children running around the yard while we are inside going over the accounts or checking the grain quality. It’s a very communal way of working. We don't have a formal office with cubicles. We usually sit on the floor or around a big table in the main room. It makes it easier to talk and get things done together. Suresh helps out with the logistics when we need an extra hand. The roads in Bengabad can be tricky, so we have to plan our transport carefully. We handle everything from seeds to selling the final produce. It’s a lot of responsibility but we manage it among ourselves. Sometimes the records get a bit disorganized when we’re in a rush, but we always straighten them out by the end of the month. It’s an honest, local business that grew out of a real need in Harila. We don't use big words to describe what we do; we just show up and work.
