Shree Durga Trading Company

Shree Durga Trading Company is located in Churiwali Gali, right in the heart of Nayaganj. If you know the area, you know how narrow the lanes are and how many people are always squeezing past each other. The shop is filled with bags and crates, and there is barely enough room to move sometimes. We spend a lot of our time coordinating with the delivery guys who have to navigate their small carts through the crowded alley. It’s a chaotic place, but there is a rhythm to it that we’ve grown used to. Nayaganj is famous for trading, and we are just one small part of that big machine. We don't have a big front window to display things, just the open entrance where the goods are stacked high. Sometimes the smell of spices or other goods from the neighboring shops drifts in. We write out our bills by hand and keep a thick ledger on the desk. It’s an old-school way of doing things, but it works for us. Most of our customers are regulars who have been buying from us for decades. We share tea with the other traders in the lane when things quiet down for a few minutes in the afternoon. It’s a tight-knit community where everyone knows everyone else’s business. We just keep our heads down and focus on the day’s trades and getting the orders out on time before we close up for the night.
