Swastik Brick Industry

Our place, Swastik Brick Industry, is situated right near the Ajania Temple in Guttur. It is a noisy spot most days because the Laxmi Foundry is also just a stone's throw away and you can hear the heavy machinery humming from morning until late at night. We have the temple bells ringing too, which is a nice sound to work to when we are out in the yard stacking the latest batch. Guttur is a busy part of the area and we see a lot of the same faces every day. The ground around here is covered in a fine layer of brick dust and soot from the foundry. We spend our hours mostly checking the kiln or making sure the trucks can get in and out of the narrow gate without hitting the fence. It is a lot of physical labor and by the end of the day, everyone is pretty tired and covered in grit. We don't spend much time on the computer or doing fancy things. Most of our notes are scribbled in a paper diary that sits on the wooden table in the shed. Sometimes the weather gets really humid and the bricks take forever to dry out properly, which makes the work pile up. We just take it as it comes and try to keep the stacks organized so we know what is ready to go out to the sites nearby.
