Rai Best Masala

Our shop is right near Harra Ki Chungi. It’s a well-known spot, so people don’t usually have trouble finding Rai Best Masala. We’ve been working with spices for a long time. The smell around our place is very strong—you can tell what we’re grinding that day from a block away. Some days it’s black pepper, other days it’s cloves. We don't use any complicated systems here. We just buy the whole spices, clean them, and grind them down. It’s a lot of work on the lungs and the eyes, especially when the chilies are being processed, but it’s what we know. The shop itself is pretty small and we have bags stacked up almost to the ceiling. We try to keep things organized, but when it gets busy, it can look a bit messy. That’s just the nature of the business. We don't put much stock in fancy packaging or catchy names. We just put the masala in clear bags and sell it to whoever walks through the door. Most of our customers are locals who have been coming to us since they were kids. They know we don't change how we do things. We keep the machines running and make sure the bins stay full. It’s an honest way to make a living. We aren't looking to change much about how we operate because this way works for us and our neighbors. It's just a simple spice business.
