Working at C-9 in the Industrial Estate means you get used to the noise of the area pretty fast. There’s always someone loading a truck or the sound of metal being moved around nearby. We spend our days dealing with various engineering parts and machines. It’s not a very fancy place, just a workspace where things get done. The floor is usually a bit dusty and there is always a wrench or a screwdriver lying around somewhere. We’ve been at this spot for some time now and everyone knows the routine. We start early when the air is still a bit cool before the afternoon heat kicks in. There are a few of us here and we mostly just focus on the drawings and the fabrication work. Sometimes the machines act up and we have to spend the whole afternoon fixing them which is just part of the job. It’s not like an office job where you sit in a chair all day. We are on our feet quite a bit. Lunch is usually something quick from the tiffin or the small shack down the road. It gets pretty busy when a big order comes in and we have to move fast. There's plenty of space but it fills up with materials quickly. We just take it one day at a time and try to get the orders out to our customers. It can be hard work but it keeps us out of trouble and pays the bills.
