Fatima Degree College

Out here in Gauri Khalsa, things move a bit slower than in the bigger cities of Uttar Pradesh. Our college, Fatima Degree College, is located right in this area of Hardoi, serving the families around 241201. We’ve got the degree courses running throughout the year, and most of our students come from the nearby villages and the town itself. The building stands out a bit when you’re driving through the local roads. Inside, it’s mostly just rows of benches and chalkboards where the learning happens every day. We don’t have a lot of bells and whistles. It’s a place for young people to get their studies finished so they can figure out what they want to do next with their lives. During the admissions season, it gets quite crowded in the office with everyone bringing in their paperwork and asking questions about the different subjects we offer. We try to help them out as we can, even if the paperwork takes a while. The staff lives nearby, so we all know each other pretty well. On hot afternoons, the courtyard is the only place with a bit of a breeze. It’s a local spot where people work hard. We don't spend much time on decorations; we just make sure the classes happen on time and the students have what they need to pass their exams. It’s just a regular part of life here in Hardoi for everyone involved.
