Battisa Farmer Producer Company Limited is based at Bhanu Pratap’s place over in Mondla. It’s a local producer company that we started to help manage the farming activities around here. Bhanu Pratap provides the space for us to meet and keep our files. It isn't a professional office building, it is more like a home office where people feel comfortable coming in to talk. We focus on the practical side of being a farmer producer group. This means a lot of time spent on the phone or sitting around a small table looking at maps and harvest schedules. Mondla is a place where everyone knows each other, so we don't need any big signs or advertising. People just know where to find us when they need help with their produce. We keep things very informal and honest. If a plan isn't working, we change it. We don't have a board of directors in suits; we just have people who know the land and the crops. Sometimes we have to deal with difficult seasons or logistical headaches, but that’s just part of the job. We keep our notes in simple notebooks and try to keep the overhead low so the farmers get more out of it. It’s a small operation, but we think it works better that way. We are just a bunch of locals in Mondla trying to do right by each other and the land we work on every single day. There is always a lot to do, but we enjoy the work.
