Shri Ganpati Bricks

Shri Ganpati Bricks is located right in Gram Sikhara. If you are driving on NH-24, you will see us right across from the Choupal Restaurant. It is a good spot because the highway makes it easy for the big lorries to come and go without getting stuck in narrow village lanes. The kiln is the heart of the place. We keep it burning for weeks at a time during the peak season. You can see the smoke from a distance. It’s a lot of manual labor, mostly stacking and unstacking the red bricks once they are fired. We have a lot of space out here in Sikhara so there is plenty of room for the bricks to dry in the sun before they go into the fire. The restaurant across the road is where most of our drivers go to eat their lunch. Sometimes the dust from our yard blows over there if the wind is wrong, but that’s just how it is. We aren't trying to be the biggest company around, just a steady one. My brother and I run the daily stuff. We spend most of our time out in the yard rather than sitting behind a desk. It gets very hot in the summer, especially near the ovens. We usually take a long break in the middle of the day when the sun is at its highest. It is just a regular life here, making bricks and watching the traffic go by on the main road.
