Our place is right across from the Jain Mandir on Huzrat Road, in the middle of Naya Bazar. If you know Lashkar, you know how crowded it gets around here, especially in the afternoons. We handle a lot of different products, mostly acting as the middleman for shops around the city. The office is usually stacked high with ledgers and sample boxes. It’s not the most organized looking place, but we know where everything is. The fans hum all day long to keep the heat away. We spend a lot of time on the phone talking to suppliers or checking on deliveries that are stuck in traffic. There is always a lot of noise from the street—horns honking and people shouting. It’s just the way it is in the bazaar. We don't have any big slogans or flashy logos. We just show up, open the gates, and start the day's orders. Sometimes we sit on the steps during a slow hour and watch the crowd go by the temple. It’s a good location because everyone passes through here eventually. We’ve been part of this market for years, and most of the other shopkeepers are friends now. We deal with all sorts of items depending on what's in demand. It’s a lot of paperwork and manual counting, but it keeps the business moving along. Sometimes the delivery boys have trouble finding a place to park their bikes out front because of the shoppers.
