Ashok Jadon

Our place is at 54, Mayur Market, right in the S P Ashram area. We are directly in front of the petrol pump in Vinay Nagar. It’s a very easy landmark to give people when they are looking for Ashok Jadon. The market is always loud and there’s a lot of coming and going because of the petrol pump across the street. We’ve got a small space upstairs where we do all the teaching. It is just a few rooms with basic furniture. We don't have air conditioning, just some ceiling fans that hum all day long. The stairs are a bit narrow, so people have to be careful coming up. We spend most of our time looking at textbooks and marking papers. It’s a very simple operation. There are no flashy brochures or big advertisements. People just walk in because they see the board or they live nearby in Vinay Nagar. It feels like a very normal way to spend the day, just helping students with their studies. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to open the windows wide to get some light. We know the other shopkeepers in Mayur Market quite well. It’s a busy, local life here. We just try to make sure that every student who comes through the door leaves with a better understanding of their work. It’s practical, everyday teaching in a busy part of Gwalior. No frills at all.
