Our shop is tucked away at House No 8B on K Kakati Roadulubari. It’s not the easiest place to find if you aren't looking for it, but we’ve been here long enough that most people in the neighborhood know where we are. There is usually a lot of wood stacked up near the entrance and the smell of sawdust is always in the air. We spend most of our time cutting and joining pieces together to make things that people actually need for their homes. It’s a small space, so things can get a bit cluttered when we have a few big projects going on at the same time. I don't really have a showroom with bright lights. Most of what you see is just work in progress sitting on the floor. Nitu Furniture started out quite small and we just kept at it over the years. We use simple tools and do a lot of things by hand because that is just how we learned to do it. Sometimes the rain makes the road outside a bit messy, but customers still find their way to us. We aren't trying to be some big corporate chain. We just like making sturdy tables and chairs that don't fall apart after a few months. It's hard work and my hands are usually covered in glue or stain by the end of the day. It’s just how we do things here.
